Also Known As:

DEXA 3 sites

BMD 3 sites

The Paediatric DEXA Single Site scan measures bone mineral density in children or adolescents using a modified low-dose X-ray protocol tailored for younger patients. It typically focuses on the spine or forearm and assesses bone growth, density, and strength. The procedure is fast (10–15 minutes), painless, and safe, with radiation exposure far below standard imaging levels. It helps in diagnosing developmental bone issues, evaluating chronic illness effects on bone health, or monitoring therapy for metabolic or endocrine disorders. Parents may stay with the child during the scan. Avoid calcium medicine before 24 hours of test.

1. Age should preferably be 21 years or above.
2. Stop calcium supplement for atleast 24 hrs before the examination.
3.No barium examination should have been done in last 2 weeks.
4. No CT Contrast should have been injected in last 10 days.
5. No radio isotope study should have been done in last 1-2 weeks
6.Vertebroplasty may affect results.
7.Rule out pregnancy. If pregnant, confirm necessity of test and use precautions.

  • Registration date and time
  • Type of scan or test
  • Scan time or sample collection time

Please note that in uncommon circumstances, TAT may be delayed due to the complexity of the test or reasons beyond our control. You will be informed about the estimated TAT at the time of registration or after completion of the test.
